LJP Skills Training Inc. About Us
LJP Skills Training Inc. opened its doors in 1992 in response to a need for locally trained individuals to fill employer demands for welders. Our College serves students from Cambridge, Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo as well as outlying communities. Since that time, graduates have achieved a 95+% success rate in finding full time jobs in the welding field. We speak with our industrial partners regularly regarding their employment requirements and our shop is contacted directly by local employers recruiting qualified personnel. In addition to welding training, many students attending LJP Skills have earned high school credits towards completion of their secondary school diplomas, made possible through our unique relationship with the Wellington Centre for Continuing Education.
In 2006, LJP added pipe welding training to the Lightspeed Welding Training and Test Centre. Welding courses now available to students include programs focusing on skill development in general welding (GMAW, SMAW and GTAW), pipe welding for beginners and advanced pipe welding for welders with previous welding experience. Specific skills’ upgrading programs, CWB and TSSA testing are also available.
Our instructors have both instructional and practical experience having worked in their fields of expertise before joining LJP Skills. Students benefit from our instructors’ on-the-job experience and insights re: employer expectations. Graduates of LJP Skills Training Inc. leave their programs with a thorough understanding of industry demands and the skills to meet those demands.
